From a wallet to a full fintech app, for more than 40 million users.
The goal
My Etisalat is where Etisalat customers manage their line: balance, bundles and payments. The goal was bigger than a wallet. We were turning the app from a place to keep money into a complete fintech app, so people could handle more of their financial life without leaving it.
My part
I joined as a senior mobile developer when the app was still mainly a wallet. I was responsible for several of the new financial services, including instalment plans inside the app and buying gold online. All of them run inside the app itself, so a user never has to leave it to finish a task.
How we build it
A large, modular codebase built with Clean Architecture, MVVM and Bloc, plus local caching. Payments go through secure integrations, including Etisalat Cash, with reliable API communication.
The result
- The Google Play rating rose from 2.7 to 4.5, across more than 1.6 million reviews.
- On the App Store in Egypt the app is rated 4.1, from about 195,000 ratings.
- The user base grew significantly.
